President Obama has selected Annesh Paul Chopra as the CTO of the USA.
Whilst some in Sillicon Valley have questioned the decision, Mr Chopra has shown visionary leadership within the technology field in his previous role of Secretary of Technology in Virginia.
Tim O'Reilly offers an a list of reasons why he feels that Mr Chopra is a good choice. From his analysis, it is clear that the new Federal CTO is well aware of the new communication tools and the power of Web 2.0 and crowd sourcing of ideas and the relationship between innovation in the public and private sector. This should help spur technology development and growth.
